| I play at a big airsoft field in Texas and the area is a variety of heavily wooded terrain. I usually am on the same team as my brother and a good friend of mine. We usually group together. On an average day there are 40 people there so the groups are big. There are bunkers but hardly anyone uses them. Everyone is pretty much shooting 400 fps and most have a gbb as a backup. What are some good tactics? Where can I go to find information on tactics. Is there a website or a book where I can read about tactics? |

First of all, search the forums before posting a thread like this. There are plenty of others.
Second, those bunkers: use them. You and your brother should use fire and maneuver. If no one else knows tactics, you can easily crush them. I have some articles about tactics on my team website, which is currently under construction. Once it's back up, I'll post a link. |

| When in heavy brush, move in short incriments, from cover to cover. Every once and awhile stop, look and listen. It is very easy to get ambushed if you aren't carefull. |

When moving and not under fire stay spread out about 10 ft. from eachother. Remember, if you're bunched together, you're more apt to get all taken out by a single burst of bb's. If you're spread out and you walk into an ambush you're multiple targets. Stay low, stay quiet, be alert and keep behind cover when possible. Move in a triangular formation. Ex., Point man up front, 1 in back right, 1 in back left. varying on how many people you have. Have people covering sides, like have the guy up front covering up front, the guy on the left covering the left area, right covering right, exct. exct. And when under fire keep cool, stay low, and return fire. If your oponents are trying to pin you down they're probably going to try to flank you. Pin them down in return and send a counter flank. And most of all don't let your gaurd down.
hope i helped. |

always keep your eyes peeled for any movement and listen for any irregular sounds. If you take a minute before you play and listen for the ambient sound, you should be able to recognize irregular sounds.
when you are moving, always keep a low profile and move slowly. always keep an eye on where you are going and what you are stepping on. a broken branch that you stepped on could get you lit up.
keep your tip low to the ground just in case, and try to wear camouflage that matches the area. this will reduce your risk of being identified.

Okay, the number one tactic for any airsoft game is this:
Run as fast as you can.
If someone sees you, you no longer have the element of surprise. If you can let off a few shots then get running, and you sprint as fast as you can, it's near impossible to hit you. The person shooting at you would have to shoot about 10 feet in front of you if you're 80 feet away from them and running at full speed, so there's almost no chance, except if you're playing high FPS AEG wars, that you'll get hit.
Aside from running, the element of surprise is the only other thing you can get. Seeing as how most people love camping, the best thing to do is to be completely silent and stay out of view. Even if you're moving really slow, if you don't step or lay on any leaves or twigs, no one should be able to hear you, and you can surprise them. |

Unless you've never heard of "fire and maneuver," that's 100% false. If people are camping, it's extremely easy to supress them once you come under fire and then flank them. Camping is a horrible tactic in almost any situation.
Anyways, here's that article from my website along with another little write-up on misc. tactics.

this will work probably half of the time, simply because its easy for an enemy to flank you. you have to keep moving, and stay in your group. if you leave your team shy a man you also leave yourself shy a team. keep moving and stay alert. when I play woodland (which is everytime i play airsoft) I always move a couple feet, then stop and crouch to look around and get a sense of direction. |

Was that directed at me? BDS is an NC team.
And snipersam, I've never found that to be the smart thing to do unless you're planning an ambush. If you let them come to you, that means you're allowing them to choose when they engage. They're not going to come after you until they feel as though they're fully prepared to crush you. By waiting, you allow them to call the shots. Your best bet is to supress them and flank as quickly as possible. |

| 3 to 5 second rush. Say in your head "I'm up, he sees me, I'm down" It is really hard to hit someone that is using this tactic. |

Always stay with a buddy(or two or three or four ) and move around alot and try not to get pinned down. If you have three or four buddies with ya then cover fire for a couple of them while they get in position to flank. |

You don't always have to move to win a game.
What wins games is stealth, superior firepower (overwelming fire on the enemy), and teamwork. |

| Crap, I hate woodland games. What I would do is hide by near by trees and wait for the enemy and blast them. I just hide NOT RUN out in the open. |

| I really appreciate the links, They're awesome. I play at the forney airsoft field and in my backyard. I have this really weird and awsome house, It's in a suburb but it also has 2 acres of land with a creek throught the middle and a whole lot of trees and cover on all the perimeters. I'm telling you, I could not have designed a better 2 acre field. Anyway, I'll be practicing those tactics with my buddies. Thanks! |

| I play in woodlands most of the time so this is what i do and it seems to work fairlyl well. take a couple of groups of guy flank around to where your enemy starts out or is, go slowly with virtually no noise, then when your about a 50 yards out spread the group out at run like hell towards them firing. then if they were sitting in one spot they wont be for long. try to get as close as possible before hiding and by the way you need to run at a slant that way you are moving towards them by ya aint runnin straight at them. this might cost u a few good men but picture this you are sitting waiting for so movement then behind you hear multiple feet hauling through the towards you and their rappin of rounds you are gonna have to move and reposition yourself to fight at this new angle. i would say you would be doing good if have your men didnt run away because thay pretty scary have aton of people running at you not even flinching at your bbs that are wizzin by their head |

To all this I would add that you should always stay in your group, if you get ambushed it's easier to counter them if you have some more firepower. Try to get good positions where you are able to cover as much area as possible, and remember, always keep firing alot at them, it stresses them and makes it harder to think clearly and make good decisions, they may make a misstake.

| sit around and wait for the enemy to come to u.....if u dont like to wait....move around them as they move...split your team up around the middle and continue on...when u attack youll have them from the rear and the front. only confront the enemy for a few seconds, 20 at the most and retreat in the direction from which u attacked and regroup and prepair for if they persue u.... |

I always like when you have a group of teammates retreat back into a specific location in the woods with teammates on both sides hidden and ready to ambush. It's great if OPFOR falls for it. On the other hand if the other team continues to retreat, I like to split up into groups of two. One group pushes OPFOR around in a circle into the other group. I remember when I did that. The kids retreating every time they came under fire, but eventually ended up retreating right into our gun fire . |

Out of my experience, I'd say just use cover when ever possible, don't be afraid to fall back, and finally, don't stay in one spot too long. My favorite tactic is just to supress an enemy with fire then move to another location to just throw them off. When outnumbered stealth is your friend. Avoid Outlining yourself against the horizen at all times, and don't be afraid of haphazardly running to another location. Sometimes it can really get you a safer location, and also surprise the enemy. Never forget when we had a guy pinned (sniper and last man in elimination) and they bolted and everyone just kinda stood there going... what just happened? No one did anything till I bolted after him |
