i called airsoft atlanta and asked them, they said that it is kinda complicated if you where someone like me that had never taken their gun apart before. By the way just wondering, where did you find a src metal body and how much was it?

airsoft128.com sells them for $80 with free shipping. I just installed one of these SRC metal bodies on my TM. Taking apart the mechbox from the plastic body is the easy part. Putting everything back on the metal body without instructions is not easy. By the way, you'll notice that all SRC aftermarket parts do not come with any forms of instruction manuals. If you want a how-to for taking your mechbox out of your SRC, go to 858airsoft.com for an excellent picture by picture instruction guide under their gun care/maintenance area. If you want to have a very basic guide on how to install a metal body, go to renegaderecon.com (under articles and do a 'search').

The SRC metal body will fit on any TM M4/16 family AEG. The exceptions that I'm not sure of are the CAR-15, the M16a1 and M16 Vietnam edition, and the XM-177E2. One thing to note: Once you install the metal body, you will lose the bolt retractable function (to access the hopup). There are 2 ways to solve this: 1. Leave the bolt plate out, or, 2. cut a portion in the front end of the bolt plate (enough to reveal the hopup. Also, once you install the SRC metal body, you lose the TM and SRC 'quick open receiver' function. To open your receiver, you have to literally take apart the whole carbine (motor, etc). Despite these issues, the dust cover is still functional, and you get a studier weapon.

My friend has a metal body on his and all he has to do is pull it all the way back then pull harder, it gives even more revealing the hopup. So would i still be able to get to the hopup somehow without taking the gun apart?

This is the wrong place to put this. Make your own topic if you want to ask a question, or another novel idea would be to do a search. By the way, somebody else on this site has that same avatar, so I'm guessing you stole it from him.
EDIT: Good thing you changed your avatar. |
