Okland raider, that's really annoying, please don't do it.
To the original poster, does the gun shoot well? |

| That looks like just a piece of the hop-up rubber to me. Your Major Problems are most likely coming from this piece ripping of. |

WOW DDG IS MAGIC... how did he know? my TM G36c clip was spinning like mad and once it released approx. 35bb's into my barrel, when i shot KABLAMMY.. was like some sort of grenade launcher thing.... BUT back to the point. mass feeding problem, low fps, no hopup activiation, 1/3range from my eye. what can i do? im not too confident in taking apart hte hop up system.. looks complicated
Also.. i suppose that just that part of the ruber came off. there must be more inside of the unit. if you need too ill take out my hopup unit.. NOT TAKE IT APART and take some pics of the inside if i can get a clear shot..

that little lip you ripped off prevents multiple bb's from entering the hop unit. without it bb's would just rush in like you said.
inside your hop up you still have alot of the hop rubber stuck on the barrel. to fix this problem would require you to disassemble the hop unit and remove/replace the faulty part. take a look at my last post on the xm8 review thread for a link on how to do this. |

thanks ddg, i have a few other questions. How do i remove the barrel?
Just take off the c-clip and then pull it out?
Also how do i get the rubber out? with tweezers?
And how would i insert a NEW rubber? Also what is the rubber part called and where could i get another?
Was that small rubber part a part of the large rubber part inside of the hopup? or is it just a seal? |

OK well i jsut went balls out and took apart the hop-up without waiting for a response from anyone... here are the results

my definition.. anything that is wrong can someone plz correct me? also in this pic ididnt take of the brass ring
also i didnt pay attention on which way the little rubber spacer and plastic thing goes... i get 100 idiot points.. well anyways could anyone tell me which way the plastic is supposed to go if anyone knows? just tell me which was the lip is supposed to be pointing

First impression, WHOA... that is a nasty rubber seam!

here is the ripped up bucking

here is another angle, see how it is torn? looks like it was chewed
seeing how all of the other parts look normal and non-damaged, all i would need is a new bucking.
Evike has some buckings, they have an ICS rubber bucking which i think is the one i need, other than that they have guarder and matrix buckings which are 50% and 70% hardened silicone, wheras this one is not. can i get a little bit of advice?
and if anyone HASN't noticed yet, im a complete airsoft noob.... this is my first electric |

Before you go too far, try Jungle Toy. If there's a store near you, they have SRC Hop-up rubber for like $5 Not the best quality, but good enough to get you back in action.
Apparently they have a $20 min for ordering online, but an SRC barrel ($10), some shims ($3), and an extra hop-up rubber wouldn't hurt.
I go to my local JT about once a week.

you have the piece marked "???" is positioned correctly in the picture. that lip interfaces with the "spinny thingy' to allow changes in hop adjustment.
you cant get a new bucking in easily without taking off the brass barrel spacer. is your brasss ring stuck pretty tight on there? if so i have a way to install a bucking w/o taking it off but its kind of a pain.
for a noob you took the hop up unit apart pretty nicely. how did the bucking rip in the first palce? you didnt mention installing a barrel or doing any upgrades, did it just bust apart inside the gun or while cleaning the barrel with the rod?
you dont need anything harder than stock aeg bucking so the src bucking will be fine. the guarder lower percentage rated bucking will also work well. skip the 70% bucking they are harder and meant for higher power.
btw, where are you located? im might stop by evikes store this weekend. |

Depending on the quality and the bore of the SRC barrels from jungletoys.com i might get it from there.
sweet, when i reassembled it(so i wouldnt lose parts, which ALWAYS happens.. i actually lost the ripped off part of the bucking 8/) i just took a wild guess and put it on. seems i was right =)
at that time that i took that pic, i didnt know that he brass ring was supposed to come off because it was on there INCREDIBLELY tight, i has to use a broken micro screwdriver and take it out from the rear.
I do recall, using the "unjammer" the first day that i got the gun. i was sticking it in there pretty damn hard and i swore there was bb in there, turns out that when it was on semi, i just half pulled the trigger. When i was sticking the plastic rod it there, it must have damaged my bucking... stupid me
i will probibly just get the ICS rubber bucking over the Guarder 50% bucking, because on the Matrix 50% hardened bucking, it says it should be used on a 280-450 fps rifle. the XM8 is just barely 260 and in some cases less.
well, seeing how the evikes store is San Gabriel, California... i take it you would live somewhere in california. I live in Virginia which is on the other side of the continent. |
