P-90 Sling Review
By: Dax Hammond
Last updated: 10/16/2002

Blackhawk Industries has recently developed a sling specifically tailored for the P90.  Said sling probably wont be available en mass to the public until September to December.  The US Military, as I understand it, is buying up most every sling produced until that time.  Some how one ended up in my possession through Mike Track, blackhawk gear dealer, airsoft dealer, and editor for FPS magazine.

I know as a P90 owner finding gear and slings can be a difficult affair.  The clips are longer, broader, and straighter than most other gun types, and good luck finding a sling that fits that narrow gap in the stock of the P90.  Other options have existed in the past, the 5 pt. Stargate SG-1 slings for instance.  However, those options have been scarce and expensive.

Blackhawk has produced a one point sling that works wonders for the P90.  I know you’re tempted to stop reading right now, one point slings are generally less desirable than their two, three, and five point counterparts, but hear me out.  It cost me less than $30 (shipping included).  The design is superb, it works very well as a one point sling.  With a swivel mount it becomes a two point sling.  With the addition of more nylon and the proper loop it becomes a three point sling, adding a buckle makes it a quick release three point sling.  If a five point sling is your focus, the addition of a Blackhawk Chalker Tac. Sling will accommodate that.

“But Dax, how is that possible?”  Simple, If you’re familiar with blackhawk’s CQD sling (a one point sling for the HK MP5) then you’re familiar with the new P90 sling.

The P90 sling has a strap that attaches to the stock and has two loops on it for the clips from the CQD strap.
The two loops can be positioned on either side of the gun, keeping with the P90’s ambidextrous intention.  As written above, to transform the one point sling into a two point sling, attach either clip to the front swivel mount.

Producing this result.
When in the single point mode the gun will naturally rest like this:

Imagine it being luggage of doom, or if you are secure in your sexuality feel free to imagine it as a little black purse of doom (either way, doom is in the equation).  My finger is rested on the trigger in the above photo, meaning that the gun can be brought to the ready quickly, and comfortably.

One of the finer features of this sling (as with most decent tac. slings) is the long nylon strap (twice as long as I need it to be).  I’m a small framed person, but the long straps are an encouragement.  Any lose nylon that would have resulted due to my stature was taken up by the plastic adjustment loops on the sling proper.  Both adjustment loops have pull tabs that can be used to easily loosen the sling on you, they can be seen on my shoulder in the photo above. A better picture here however:

I hope this review gave the P90 owners out there an idea of what is to come.  Below are a few more pictures if you’ll have them.

Author’s note: I apologize for the quality of some of these photos, I was a bit excited about the existence of the sling, and therefore rushed a few of the pictures, in terms of lighting and focus.
