OK, here is a noob question for you. Since batteries with higher discharge rates increase ROF, will, say a 8.4 volt battery with a discharge rate of 30amps have such a higher ROF that it strips the gears of a stock gun (such as ICS M4A1) as if you're using a 9.6 volt battery. [:)

| it's not an INCREDIBLE increase of ROF like a higher voltage will give you, its just better. It's not going to strip your gears, unless your a terrible shimmer. |

| While I like how you're discussing discahrge rates and such, internal resistence of cells can play just as big a role in the efficency of the flow of current (and thusly the operatiuon of the gun) as the diachrge rate. They btoh go hand in hand. The best battery packs have a high discharge rate, but a low internal resistence. |

also, i had bought this battery pack from onlybatterypacks http://www.onlybatterypacks.com/showitem.asp?ItemID=10635.11 and i went to put it in my TM mp5a4 and it wouldnt fit all the way in the stock. it needs to go about 5 millimeters more or so and then i would be able to close it. im going to a local retailer tomorrow to see if they have one just slightly smaller and if so ill get it and send this one back (i havent charged, or used it yet so that shoulndt be a problem). so i need to know, is that the situation where cutting that plastic piece in the stock solves the problem, and should i return this one and get a ni-cad, or are nimh's better? please let me know as soon as you can as i dont want to screw this up. |

Okay, reason why you buy a new fuse with a Ni-MH is because it has a higher amperage if you get a GOOD battery. Ni-MH is the obvious choice if you get a good one, and have the cash.
Yes, knock out that notch on the inside of your gun, that mod is required of all TM guns to fit one of those large batteries. Ni-Mh's are better, so stick with out, you got 25amp discharge rate, so its good. |

its a brand new gun and i havent even test fired it. i guess once i get the charger i can test fire it and if all is good ill be busting some plastic. i didnt realize that mod would be required for an 8.4V, i thought it was for the longer 9.6 ones. ill stick with the nimh though. thanks for the help.
edit: ha! just kidding. i got a new, slightly smaller nicad battery tonight. im gonna charge it up in the morning and take it for a run. |

| I don't know if this is the right place to post this question, but I have some RC car batteries that work great in my AEGs, and I was wondering; could I use these is the place of a mini battery in an AUG? Would they fit? They're 7.2v, shaped basically like a large batt without that last cell on the end. Do you think these would be too wide? |

sewer ice did a great job on the writeup.
The best part is that I can go to a hobby shop and buy my own batteries, whether separately or in a pack of 6 (I would prolly need more than 6 to get the proper voltage), and I can get the ones that are closest matched to each other. That means they will all discharge at the same rate, and give me good power up until the last 5 shots. But put it this way...some people complain that they dont like it when it doesnt give a warning its about to die. What happens in real life when an M16 jams in the heat of a firefight? It doesnt give you a warning 'hey Im about to jam, do something.' It just locks up. So what do you do? Get your head down and clear it up and get it working again. If not, then pull out the trusty sidearm and start banging away.
A good matched pack of 6 3000nimh batteries (the type that require you to make the battery pack yourself) about 4 years ago used to cost around $110. I could run my RC car all day on one of those, and that motor pulled 30-50amps or more at times (depending what chip i had in the speed controller). Race motors (8 turn windings) can pull as much as 130 amps! The drawback is that the battery packs dont last more than 3 minutes (about the typical duration of a 'heat' in racing) and they get VERY HOT.
Id rather spend money in my batteries, cuse u never know when that last ounce of energy in your battery will give you the full range before it dies, rather than that slowly dying one that shot the bb and it fell short. Could mean the difference of getting hit or hitting someone. |

| In the TM 2004 little magazine thing, it says that there's an "SD" size battery, that's only for the SD6 and the G36. Everywhere else though, it says to use a mini battery for these guns. IS there such a thing as an SD battery? |

| mixmastermonkey, you discharge it until the red light isnt lit anymore. you can leave it plugged in longer if you'd like. it wont hurt anything. wombat, the sd battery and mini batery are practically the same thing. there are sd batteries out there but a mini will suit your purposes just fine. |

I have a question:
If there is no need to discharge a NIMH battery, then you've got to be able to overcharge it a little bit. Am I right? |

I'm planning on buying a custom aug nimh battery 9.6v 1100 mah 30 amp discharge rate (#G1108AUG ATTACK PACK: 9.6v NiMH 1100mah 2/3 A Airsoft Mini Battery Pack, with mini Tamiya (Marui) connector. Gold Peak 1100 Ultra High Output cells. Discharge rate: 30 amps! For Stock or Mod Guns.
If I upgrade it to 400fps, would 30 amp discharge rate be too dangerous to the internals? Do I need some special "shimming" to be done by a professional? (BTW Aug is eg700; version 3 gearbox) Also, how hard is it to “Mod-Cut the black plastic piece that goes into the stock.”

Is this the bad battery you were talking about? http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=824
That battery would work, right?
If I get that battery, would I notice a difference in ROF in my P90. The battery I have right now is the one that comes with the DenTrinity P90 Package, it is 600 MaH. |

Antimatter: I dont think you will notice much of a difference. A stepup of voltage will make more of a difference than amperage. That battery will have "shooting time" per charge though.
I think that batteryspace batteries are fine. My friend runs a 9.6V 3000Mah in his (on his rather...) M120 upgraded M4. I have been able to get my gun to fire using a 7.2V 3000Mah (PDI 150% M16A2).
Other battery manufacters are probably better, but we have not had problems with running our moderatly upgraded guns on these batteries. |

Guys, I don't think this is a battery question thread, hence the lack of responses. I'll try to answer a few, though.
Osiris, A 9.6v 1100mAh battery is probably the nicest you can fit in there. It should last for.. 1500 shots, maybe? Depends a lot on other upgrades.
Antimatter, there'd be a slight RoF difference, but it's barely noticable. The capacity and lack of discharge are the main nifty things about that battery.
Alex, the NiMH batteries don't seem to "remember" previous charges like the NiCad batteries do, so you don't need to "clear" their "memory" before each charge. You won't need a discharger for a NiMH battery; in fact, it should be stored with a bit of a charge in it.
9.6v batteries should be available without any external differences. Email Jeff who runs www.onlybatterypacks.com, and he should be able to answer any compatibility questions you have.
Goodluck, guys!

Lol you seem very excited. 7 question marks!
They're virtually the same size. There're minor differences, but the battery -should- still fit. (it'll be a NiMH rather than a NiCad if you get the 1100) |
