Ok, I made a smaller version for myself, just to test it. As a safety, I only installed a nail in the path of the snapping bar, along with a thick wad of duct tape attached to it (what the hey, the tape was green anyways) for a safety. Upon testing it, I found that if the nail is embedded firmly enough, and the duct tape is flat enough, it is an effective safety device.
The test worked great! On my small scale, the BBs went about 8 feet before dieing down, but the trap was smaller, and 8 feet is a good killzone for a single target.
Also, this trap is a good way to resuse damaged BBs (misfired, misshapened, cheaper ones, dirty ones, etc.)! |

i made one, at first when i saw the forum i was like, well i have time so why not, i didnt think it would work well but DAMN, these things rock, just make sure you use a RAT trap and not a MOUSE trap.and since cloth can stretch and the spring has pressure applied to it all the time, this will stretch the cloth so far it just lays flat, i suggest using multiple layers of cloth or ducktape. Ducktape(if put in the right places) will make a nice platform for the BB's to so u dont spill them everywhere, and nice job to the guy tht painted his green, looks awesome
o and here is a video so no one has to go through the trouble of making one, i say i made it because my friend thinks he made it, not because i think i came up with the idea or anything

| Well they can injure you, i doubt it can break a bone on your finger, but a rat trap can most likely deal some damage on fingers. |

Same thing as your designs... except a bit more technical. And i probly spent a bit more time. (wishing i would have just done it the easy way like you guys did) But still all in all its cool.
Ready to fire

Diff angle before its ready to fire

What it looks like inside (loaded and ready to fire)

After its been fired... the top cap flys open on the hinges and shows the bright orange so you can easily find it after the game.

A short video of me loading it up with some scrap pieces of crumpled up paper and fireing it at the camera really fast... i used scrap paper becuase i didnt feel like picking up the BB's that flew all over my room... and then come to find out... the paper flew just as far anyways lol. So it does have a considerable amount of power.

| haha in kno... like i said. Not worth the effort... i mean, its cool looken, does the trick. But the rat trap is just more affordable and just all around better i think. |

I've seen those things snap rats in half... "damage" varies jointly to the appendage and distance of the the snap |

im glad you study rat traps. Any tests and observations made on yourself to find out this data ? |

All in the name of science
Actually, I got busted for shooting rats with a pellet rifle inside the house, and the glue-traps suck like hell so I started using the snap traps. The rats would run to them, it would clamp down and smash them depending on the shot. tons of rats that took it to the neck were generally severed into two halves.
Nice stuff, Careful when you're trying out this project.
Also to note, after serious use, the hinges of the rat trap may bend or loosen... when that happens, it means it's time for a new trap |

| hello all. i did a design but possibly more powerful. first of all i used a rat trap(more powerful and more sensitive) and rigged it like a catipult. i used a peice of nylon to mak it so that if a person actually steps on the trap it doesnt break their toe. i use popcorn as ammo ecause its cheaper and it flies father and... it bio-degrades faster. anyway i used tripwire in the actuall way the trap is designed for(really sensitve, cause rats are clever... like a fox)anyway it sprays about 10-15ft.srry no pics cause no dig cam.it basically looks like a small catipult. and it looks deadly,... deadly like a goldfish. |

We have been using rat traps, headshot.
Edit: And Ziz, sure grenades have a hihger chance of hitting your target think about it, these are cheaper and you dont have to be near your victim when it goes of increasing your survival chance. |
