Compress the spring in a vice for around one hour first, My 150 Used to stick out the cylinder by about 2 inches, now its flat in the cylinder.
EDIT : Don't Even try to run a 190SP in a stock cylinder, The head will blow off like it did with Snowwolfs 170 In a teflon cylinder after 2000 shots. And You will have to replace the zero trigger after around 1000 shots with a 190.

Can you provide a reason Uncle sam?
Yes at my last game my 170 blew my cylinder head clean off its threads. I was using the laylax cylinder head and the teflon cylinder. The cylinder's threads were ****ed but luckily i had a replacement. |

| Is this a common problem with a 170? Now you guys have got me worried. Maybe I should keep a spare cylinder around. |

Unclesam, Wtf are you on about? You think I should reply because you think I never know what im rambling on about or something? Because in that case, you are COMPLETELY wrong. You need a good punch.
EDIT: No, its not a common problem for the 170's, I WOULD NOT recommend running a 170 in a stock cylinder, Maybe Snowwolfs original Teflon cylinder was a lemon to break after 2000 shots.

| Ok now I feel better. I am currently using a teflon cylinder, I should have put that in the first post. Thanks for the info. |

| My teflon cylider has gone through over 6000 shots. And that was the first time it happened. The cylinder was fine....however the head was fuxxed to say the least. |

One question. Why? The spring is supposed to do that; by compressing it you've defeated the purpose of a 170 spring. That's like leaving your gun cocked for an hour.... you might as well have gotten a weaker spring...
I've run a 170sp spring in a stock cylinder and stock head for well over a year and a half now. no problems. You don't necessarily need the teflon cylinder; I've tried, it, yes it's a BIT easier to pull back, but not by much when there's a 170sp spring.
There's no harm in trying a 190 spring in a stock cylinder and head. I suspect the only reason a head would ever blow off, is if the threads are poorly aligned (manufacturing problem). Since the stock cylinder and head are all OEM, I doubt that problem would occur. |

You would not wear a 190 down to 170 power by compressing it for one hour! Its just an aid to get the cylinder head on.

| Ah. If you compress a spring from a point where, it sticks out past the cylinder, to a point where it is level with the cylinder. you DO weaken it considerably. |

I've never heard of the spring blowing the piston head off, but I guess it does happen. I spoke to the knowledgeable people at Replisoft and they said a FF cylinder would be able to handle 190 springs and above for at least 1000 shots. They also said the first thing to go would be the outer barrel being sheared and even shattered by all the force.
chewondave: I agree with the weakening of the spring by compression. If I remember my physics class correctly from way back, a spring's overall ability to store potential energy depends on its uncompressed length. Shorter length means less potential evergy which translates into less kinetic energy for speed/power. |

arg answer the question guys how the hell do u get the cylinder head back on with a 190 spring.. it is very hard to do.. i need some help from someone who has installed 190 spring not a 170 spring that is easy, head screws right on.. but 190 spring very hard to get the head to touch the cylinder let alone screw it on.. i am 31 years old not a weak child and it is very hard to do.. i need to know what tools to use...if any tools at all....help i am sick of looking at my dissembled vsr....thanks
P.S. please reply if in fact you have installed a 190 spring or start your own 170 spring thread.. |

| Unclesam have you tried getting one person to hold the cylinder (pushing towards you) and you pushing the cylinder head (towards them) and screwing it down? |

Put the cylinder head in a vice, then use your whole body weight to push forward on the cylinder onto the thread.

Unclesam, your profile states you are a 19 year old female...uh....not quite 31.
Just get someone to help you push harder, theres nothing special.... |

Mostly with the PDI cylinder head. Maybe 400-600 rounds with a combination of the FF Pro and stock cylinder heads. |

Seriously, I told you unclesam, don't get angry. Just as it's difficult with a 170 spring, my point is, you don't want to pre-compress it. Just push, and if that proves too difficult, to push down and screw in at the same time, get someone else to push down, while you screw the head into the cylinder.
There is no "magic" tool to do so. We're all just trying to help you, just take them as suggestions, and make your own choices. |
