| My local group of airsoft players and i have decided to make a theme based airsoft team.We decided on playing the good guys and doing if for the USA. We will either be a S.W.A.T team or a SEAL team. We want to go all out on this so what excatly makes up a S.W.A.T team or SEAL team. How many people are on these teams in realy life? What guns should each person have if we are trying to be alike yet different? I know one person should have a MP5 and another person should have a shotgun but what kind and what about the other players? Also what in the world do SEALs use on misions? Thanks alot :) |

They use anything they want, how many people they want, and dress how they want.
SEALs are completely flexible on what they use...
SWAT usually has 5-20 guys on an operation, and use whatever guns they want normally. They usually have a bunch of different gear sets for different situations... |

| Go to the library and do some research. You'll get better results there than asking here. In terms of weapons, I suggest that everyone carry guns that use the same mags. Sharing common gear is really nice when someone runs out of ammo in the middle of a fight, and everyone can just pass the needed stuff around. |

yup, the SEALs don't use standard weapons or uniforms in the field. So for a SEAL team you can use whatever weapon and combat gear you want for the mission, including Soviet stuff. I've seen a SEAL unit with 3 M60e3s an M249, 2 M16s (one with M203) and an M24 in a 7 man team and another team in Iraq v1 that used soviet weapons with Brit desert stuff only; so weapons/uniform mix can vary greatly depending on team mission.
SWAT will be more uniform looking at least for the basic outfit. Weapons mix will vary depending on team role. Alpha assault will usually be the heaviest armed/armored incorporating gas masks etc... BDUs don't have to be black or blue, I've seen SWAT in Olive BDUs and regular Woodland BDUs but all members should wear the same BDU type at least. |

Stardard SEAL weapons as listed on their official website include:
Primary Weapons: H&K MP5 M60 Machine Gun M4 Light Machine Gun M16 Automatic Rifle
Secondary Weapons: Colt .45 Sig 9226 H&K PS9 Smith and Wesson .357
Speciality Weapons: M203, M79, and MK19 grenade launchers M14 Shotguns
Navy SEALs operate in a variety of demanding and challenging circumstances. From the water, air or land, SEALs adapt to nearly any environment using teamwork, training and high-tech equipment to accomplish their missions. From high-altitude parachutes to stealthy watercraft and desert or arctic camouflage, SEAL operations require a diverse range of equipment, both for individual SEALs and to transport teams to and from missions.
Each SEAL team is assigned to an Area of Operations (AO) and is specially trained to handle that type of terrain - desert, arctic, woodland or jungle. For example, desert operations require overcoming extreme heat; arctic operations necessitate winter warfare training; and woodland and jungle operations rely on camouflage to blend into the surroundings. Special tactics, techniques and equipment apply to each AO - from SEAL Delivery Vehicles and high-speed gunner boats to advanced SCUBA gear and other sophisticated equipment.
I hope this can help All the weapons posted are standard, naturally the SEALS could use other weapons as dictated by the mission. I realize that you don't have high-tech watercraft or scuba gear, but I thought a breif background could give you an idea of what the SEALS can do(if you already didn't know).

"SEALs are trained to operate in small units of one or two men up to platoon strength of sixteen. However, they work best in squads of eight or fewer. Most missions are clandestine in nature, planned in exacting detail and executed with precision and swiftness. During peacetime, SEALs find themselves with the same rigorous training as during war. Training remains strict to enforce the belief that the more you sweat in peacetime, the less you will bleed in war." |

| Uh, you guys do know that www.navyseals.com is in no way affiliated with the actual Teams, right? Any "official" site, if it even existed, would be associated with the US Navy's .mil domain. |

the workhorse for the SEALs (or any US Special Forces for that matter) is the Colt M4A1 carbine. the SEALs and other SOCOM units us the SOPMOD (Special Operation Perticular MODifcation) so they can custumize their weapons depending on the mission- search on google or something for more info, but they are not limited to the M4, snipers (what i have seen have seen) have used anything from SR25s and M24s to Barrets and same thing goes for automatic rifleman and light machine gunners (M249s, M60s, M240s, etc.) roles vary depending on the mission also- CQB - usually a breacher, riflemen, sometimes a helicopter sniper for cover or a normal sniper, etc. clothes are personal choice
outdoor missions (depending on the range of the engagements) can usually have a team leader(and fireteam leaders depending on the squad size), a marksman(sniper, counter sniper), a light machine gunner, an auto rifleman, rifleman-also called pointman(double as grenadiers-SOPMOD), radio man(also doubles as a grenadier), sometimes a rear guard that I heard carries a shotgun( but not Standard), extra riflemen, etc.
2 man(or larger) sniper teams can use a variety of weapons depending on range of engagements- from what i have seen and heard one man will carry a Sniper rifle and the other will carry a normal rifle One man is the team leader/spotter/rifleman and the other is the sniper(duh) These two man teams traditionally are on the ground but they also work on helicopters like SFC Randy D. Shughart and MSG Gary Gordon( i know that was Delta, but SEALs do that too)
hope that helps- my neighbor is a Navy SEAL (he is so cool)
forgot to tell u about the breakdown of a SEAL team-
*Team- 10 Platoons *Platoon- 16 SEALs, 2 officers, 14 enlisted men *Squad- 8 SEAls, 1 officer, 7 enlisted men *Fireteam- 4 men, 2 swim pairs(buddies)
The 8 man team has been traditionally the unit size of choice - work best in small, tight, efficient units
also forgot most teams have a Navy Corpsman too
if u want to learn about the missions [Direct Action(DA), Unconvientional Warfare(UW), Special Recon(SR), Foreign Internal Defense(FID), and Counterterrorism operations(CT)]- then go to the either the OFFICIAL website or the one listed above |

Boondocksaint, I know that that the M3 is a shotgun. But the SWAT team uses the Benelli M1 shotgun (almost identical to the M3).
The two look alike, so it's easy to see why you mistaked it for the M3. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've seen a LOT of people on swat teams using P-90s and Sig Rifles...
And I've seen one or two seals toating around p-90s and sig rifles in various books...
reason I say this is because I hate the sterotype people make betwen the mp-5 and police units. and the m-4a1 with the Seals, (everytime I turn around I see a book cover with a seal holding a m-4a1 or a SWAT officer holding a mp-5.. its overused ffs) Sure its used a lot but there are other weapons they use to.
Try and break it up. I dunuo be the only Swat airsoft team to utilize..
Primary: P-90/TR Sig-551 Mp-5A4/5 Ump (yes I've seen conversion kits made by people) Benalli M-3/M-1 Spas-12 UZI M-4A1
Seccondary: USP P8 Mk 23 colt .45 M92BR Glock 17 Desert Eagle .50 (I know I know its impractable but its in here to cut up the pistol roster a bit)
if your worried about mags use the 9mm conversion in the m-4 and use uzi mags. No one needs more than 2 p-90 hi-caps per round. Buy or make some straight mp-5 mags and use them in both the mp-5 and UMP. the Sig-551 can carry 3 hi-caps and the shotguns can interchange shells. And if you must interchange clips with the p-90 get the box mag and use m-16 mags in it |

Each SWAT or First Response team has its own armory. I've seen Burbank train with P90's and 5-7's. I've seen LAPD train with MP5's, M4 varians and I've only seen 1911's in their holsters. I've heard of some other, well funded groups that have Sig rifles and STI pistols. They basicall use whatever they can afford.
I haven't seen any local team with silenced guns, for the most part they use the volume of gunfire as a psychological tool. |

I know of a SWAT officer over in Virginia, he uses a SUPRESSOR on his mp5n....
And yes, they use whatever they can effin afford. Why so many use the m4's, there cheap. Actually, a lot use the m15a4, m15a4's are LE guns, military doesn't use them....
One of the SWATS greatest tool is the use of smokes and flashbangs (heard from swat officer...), so grab this! http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=GBT-ACC-TDDD_cat_Dummy&PHPSESSID=7db9cfb45e5c57f057acf162e5c69dcb
Oh, and if you go SWAT, make sure no one uses a m203... Or an AN/PEQ2.... |

My local SRT unit, which is just the same thing as a SWAT team but with a shorter less cool sounding name. They carry a bunch of cool weapons, I will list them below.
Assault Rifles: Colt M4A1, 30 round mag, ACOG scope Colt M16A1 and A2's, also with 30 round mags Other Armalite variants
SMG's H&K MP5A4 with gray polymer 40 round mags H&K MP5SD5 with standard 30 round mag
Shotguns: Benelli M3 Tactical SPAS 12 with stock Benelli M1 Tactical
Sniper Rifles: Barret M82A1 .50cal M24
I am sure they have more, but they dont show us all of there little toys, I am pretty sure they also carry stuff like flasgbangs, smoke, and even frag grenades. |
