| I've been thinking about doing a report on airsoft and I need to know the exact origin of airsoft. I've been to a lot of websites and some say it started in the 80s in Japan, others the 70s in America, and I don't know which one is right. Links are appriciated. |

I believe it started in Japan, due to their strict gun laws. People are not allowed to own guns in Japan, but there is still a large intrest in them. Thats the whole reason airsoft was born. Airsoft originated in Japan, but first started in the U.S. during the 70's.

I also just looked around google for a little bit, and was able to find some interesting info. Good luck to you

Japan. I read an article about some guy being known as the father of airsoft. Lemme try and find the link.
Renegade Recon

Tanio Kobayashi, for some "the father of airsoft", is man who is held in extremely high regard in Japan. Ever since the humble beginnings of legendary Model Gun Corporation his dedication for gun designing has been enormous. He told us his remarkable story of four decades and some of his visions how he sees the future of airsoft.
