| I know theres another topic about it but it sorta seems dead..I want to upgrade my be steyr, well after i buy it that is. so what is required? do i need a new gearbox and springs, or can i getaway with just some src metal springs and a m100. if i need other stuff what else do i need and where can i get these things for the best price. Lastly, is it posbble to simply put in a m90 and then just use it like that? I am about to get one and need to know what to do before i get it so i can go ahead and order the parts. |

| Read everything in the other topic and you will understand what parts to get. I've heard that a m100 will strip the gears, and that a m90 will be just fine, but i can't say so much, i do not owe the gun, i've read this, but i trust those who have written it. |

| i read the other topics but its not clear, it just says they are all waiting on parts to get in, what i mainly wanna know is if i can just stick a m90 in it and be good or is it better to use a m100 and src gears.. |

| Your best bet is to port the piston, polish the barrel, lube the gears, and stretch the spring a little. That will increase durability, power, and accuracy. |

I think they guve you a cleaning tube. Just put some paste on it and polish the inner barrel. Should give tighter groupings and slightly more fps.
The piston thing will increase power, rof, and possibly durability. What you want to do is drill 4 holes in the top of the piston. Then cut the rubber around it. Here is a pic:

| Considering the gun shoots 190fps with .12g stock, that is going to be pretty hard. |

| speaking of upgrading the gun.. i just got my BE AUG and i want to quiet down the gearbox a little bit... i know that i would need foam but i was wondering if anything surprising will happen if i take the gun apart (i.e would any springs pop out of pieces flying) |

The main spring might come out at you when you take the gearbox apart, but the gun itself is nice and easy to disassemble. No surprises.
You can follow either the procedure for the Tokyo Marui brand, or even a real Steyr manual if you've got one. |

m100 + metal gears= stree on plastic gear box= you cussing when the gearbox brakes
m90 is gonna put some stress on your gearbox i havent tryed it yet but i got a m120 in my TMv3 im wateing on some bearings i should have them today or tomorrow but i wouldent put anything over a m90 in a plastic box even if you put metal bushing in it.
think of it this way. your makeing stress. bigger spring = stress on gears= plastic gears strip metal gears = stree on gearbox. plastic box cracks.
example. i got a lpeg mp5 sd6 to shoot 310fps on .12's used it for about 4 days it was fine no grinding nothing just a slower ROF. then i let it sit one day and i went to shoot it and uh oh rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr by bye gears. Why i got no idea the day b4 it was fine i went to shoot it a day after it it just striped. Replaced the gears and cracked the case.
i'll put a m90 in my aug and se how long it holds up and if it lives i do a m100 and see when it dies cuz im replaceing the box with a spare v3 i got here. 190's are fine for play honestly i dont se why people go over 260 unless there a sniper and they need the range and power. |

| sorry to awaken an all but dead thread... has anyone attempted to open the gearbox of the AUG? if so are there any surprises (i ask so that when things start to fly out i know what to look for....) im trying to get an idea of what the gears and piston look like... my dad has offered to cast them out of Stellite (same material that lines the inside of an M60 bbl) |
