Tokyo Marui AK47 Review
By: ASR Staff Member - Falcon
The Ak-47 is possibly the most well known rifle in the world.  Many different people from all around the world, from communist empires to rebel terrorists, use this infamous assault rifle.  It is cheap, durable, and powerful.  The airsoft version of the AK-47 made by Tokyo Marui is a beautiful piece of work that is suited for a
variety of combat uses.  The first thing that you will notice about the AK-47 is its beautiful stock, pistol grip and fore grip.  Although they are plastic they look and feel exactly like wood.  The finish is durable as well, I have smacked the stock against trees and dragged it through the mud and it still holds its beautiful finish.  The stock itself holds a large battery with no forcing or jamming it in.  This is a pleasant surprise and a relief from the tight spaces found in the M16 series. The muzzle on the gun can screw off to reveal
threads for a silencer or flash hider.  The gun has numerous metal parts on it.  Some of these include the upper receiver, charging handle, selector switch, sling hooks, muzzle, mag release, trigger, and the sights.  Even the replica cleaning rod mounted under the barrel is metal. All these parts give the gun a hefty weight and a very
realistic feel. In fact this gun is so realistic looking that it is impossible to tell if it is real or not until you depress the trigger.  There is no plastic creaking or wobbling barrel.  The standard magazine holds 70 rounds while a Hi Capacity Mag will hold 600 rounds.  The magazine is all metal and is quite heavy because of its large size.  Re-loading with these magazines is very fast and easy.  Overall TM’s AK-47 is most likely the most durable gun in TM’s entire line of AEGs. Even in the heat of battle it easy to configure the hop-up.
When you let go of the charging handle it slaps back with a satisfying metal slap.  Its size is a little bit longer than a fully extended M4A1.  This makes the gun easy to maneuver around with and is suited for CQB as well as outdoor combat. The sights make aiming simple. They are very easy to use.  Both sights are fully adjustable for
elevation.  A slider mounted on the rear sights can both raise and lower them and the front sights can be adjusted up and down with a special tool that comes with the gun.  The sights are also easy to access with a full-face mask.  One of the great things about this gun is its ease of use and simplicity.  Taking the gun down is easy as well.  This is convenient when cleaning the gun and for maintenance.  This is also nice because it means it is easier to upgrade and fit parts in. The only drawback I can find is
that the selector switch leaves a groove in the receiver when it is used after a while.  The real steel does the same thing however so I guess it cant really be seen as a negative aspect of this gun.  For those of you first getting into airsoft this is a definite candidate for a first gun.  Veterans of the sport may also want to pick
up one of these if they are bored of seeing M4s and MP-5s on the field. Its unique beautiful looks, ease of aiming and power all make for a fun and durable gun that should be owned by all airsofters.
